BHMS at NIH, Kolkata
June 13 : National Institute of Homoeopathy, Block-GE, Sector-III, Salt Lake, Kolkata-700 106, an autonomous Institution under Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, has invited applications from Indian Nationals for admission to 5½ years Degree Course in Homoeopathy (BHMS) (including one year Compulsory Rotatory Internship) at the National Institute of Homoeopathy, Kolkata, affiliated to The West Bengal University of Health Sciences for the academic year 2009-10.
Those who have passed Higher Secondary (10+2)/equivalent examination with five subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and obtained 50% marks in aggregate (45% marks for the SC/ST) are eligible to apply. Applicant should attain 17 years of age by 31st December, 2009. Blind (including colour blind), deaf, and/or dumb candidates are not eligible to apply for the course.
There are 60 seats of which 14 seats are reserved for nominees, one each from Jammu and Kashmir, Manipur, Meghalaya, , Nagaland, Sikkim, Andaman and Nicobar Island, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep and Puducherry and 2 each from Mizoram and Tripura. Six seats are reserved for Foreign Nationals of which 5 are for candidates from BIMSTEC Countries (Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand) nominated by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi and One for Foreign National candidates under self-financing scheme nominated by the Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India. Ten seats are reserved for candidates sponsored by Govt. of Sri Lanka through the Dept. of AYUSH, Govt.of India. The remaining seats will be filled through All-India Admission Test.
Reservation for various categories will be made as per rules. Application has to be submitted in the format available at http://www.nih.nic.in, on three A4 size paper (two pages for the application proforma and one page for the identification card).
Filled in application, in candidate’s own handwriting, should reach the office of the Director, National Institute of Homoeopathy, Block-GE, Sector-III, Salt Lake, Kolkata-700 106 on or before 20th July, 2009 along with (i) a self addressed (with Pin code) envelope of size 31 cm X 12 cm (ii) Bank Draft for Rs.500/- drawn in favour of Director, National Institute of Homoeopathy, payable at Kolkata (No Bank draft is required in case of SC/ST candidates but they have to attach a copy of caste certificate attested by a Gazetted Officer with the application) (iii) 4 identical copies of recent passport size (3.5 cm X 4.5 cm) colour photographs of the applicant taken without spectacles and cap/hat, after 15th May, 2009 with a placard showing candidate’s name and date of photo, of which 2 copies are to be pasted on the specified area on the application, which should be attested by a Gazetted Officer after pasting, with part of signature on the photograph and part of signature on the application form and the other 2 not pasted, signed on the reverse by candidate.
Admit Card and Prospectus will be sent by Post to the applicants. List of candidates with their Roll numbers and Centres will also be available at http://www.nih.nic.in.
The All India Entrance Examination will be held on 9th August, 2009 (Sunday) at Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Thiruvanthapuram and Bhopal. In case the number of candidates opted for a particular centre are less, then the centers at Hyderabad, Thiruvanthapuram and Bhopal will be cancelled and the candidates will be allotted the nearest centre. Accordingly candidate who opts for Hyderabad / Thiruvanthapuram/Bhopal has to mention his/her second choice of center of examination from amongst Kolkata/New Delhi/Mumbai/Chennai. The examination will be of 3 hours duration with 200 multiple choice questions from Physics (60), Chemistry (60), Biology (60) and General Knowledge (20). There will be negative marking for wrong answers
The result of Admission Test will be announced on 17th August, 2009. Counselling for Admission will be on 28th & 29th August, 2009. Result of the qualified candidates will be communicated by post and the merit list will also be available at http://www.nih.nic.in.
