Master of Public Health course at NICD

June 13 : National Institute of Communicable Diseases, (Directorate General of Health Services), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, 22-Shamnath Marg, Delhi 110054 has invited applications for admission to the 2-year Master of Public Health (Field Epidemiology) [MPH (FE)] course for 2009, affiliated to the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi,

Those possessing MBBS Degree from any recognized institution are eligible to apply. The upper age limit is 45 years for in-service candidates and 35 years for others as on August 1, 2009, which can be relaxed up to a maximum of 5 years in exceptional cases by the Admission Officer if he/she is satisfied with the merit of the case.

The intake will be limited to a maximum of 15 seats. Of these, two seats are earmarked for World Health Organization sponsored fellows. For the remaining 13 seats, admission will be done on the basis of an entrance test. These 13 seats will be distributed in the ratio of 60% for In-Service Candidates (working in Health Institutions / Organizations in Central / State Government or Public Sector and having five years experience, of which at least three years should be in Public Health activities) and 40% for direct candidates. In-service candidates shall, at the time of application or counseling for admission, furnish a letter from their employer that, if they are admitted, they would be relieved for two years for undertaking the course on a full-time basis at NICD.

Reservation will be as per Government/University norms with 27% for OBC; 15% for SC; 7.5% for ST; 5% for Defence category and 3% for Physically Handicapped Candidates. One supernumerary seat is earmarked for Kashmiri migrants for which the admission will be based on the Entrance Test.

The Entrance Test is to be conducted on 5th July 2009 (Sunday) at Delhi. WHO sponsored candidates are exempted from appearing in the entrance test and such candidates will be enrolled to the University directly. Details are available in the Information Bulletin.

Application form and Information Bulletin will be available from the Institute between 10 am and 5 pm on all working days till 22nd June 2009 on payment of Rs. 400/- in the form of a Demand Draft in favour of ‘Director, National Institute of Communicable Diseases’, payable at Delhi.

Application Form & Information Bulletin can also be downloaded from the website www.nicd.nic.in. Those who use downloaded Application Form must enclose a DD for Rs. 400/-, drawn as described with name & address written on the back side of the DD, with the filled application form.

Completed Application should reach the Director, National Institute of Communicable Diseases latest by 5 pm on 22nd June 2009 with words, ‘APPLICATION FOR MPH (FE) 2009, written on the top of the envelope.

The course is not recognized by the Medical Council of India.
